Very cool, large, clear, round, ice spheres. These are easy to make and will definitely impress. I also have a very good setup that makes large, clear square cubes. However I prefer the spheres as they compliment my crystal glassware. Get one now!!
This ice ball maker is really great quality the ice balls come out solid and clear, and they don’t melt quickly, which is perfect for cocktails and whiskey. However, it’s quite bulky and takes up a lot of space in our freezer. Plus, it only makes 4 ice balls at a time, so it can be a bit slow if you need more.Overall, I love the quality and the look of the ice it makes, but the size and capacity are something to consider before buying.
I really am enjoying making the ice cubes. If done properly they come out fully spherical. Depending on how long you leave in freezer, the balls can be difficult to get out, but water over the casing is an easy fix.
We've been making clear ice balls with this mold for a few days now. It's making very nice clear ice balls. Getting 4 balls at a time means we can keep up, or even stock up on cocktail ice. The included bag is a nice touch for extra ice balls. Do pay attention to the water level, or you'll push water out of the tub when you put the top mold on. Also check that you have a good level spot in your freezer for this bucket. If it tilts, you'll have water on the floor or in the freezer. We're using RO water, and I think this helps. The bucket can freeze solid and clear all the way to the bottom.
The product creates see-through clear ice balls about the same size as from two other ball molds I own. They fit nicely into my favorite scotch glass. They do an effective job of chilling down a drink with little dilution. The pieces fit together quickly and easily. I felt it was fairly easy to remove the ice balls. I had to briefly run water over the mold to get it to release the ice, but only a little. It is easy to clean the plastic and silicone parts. There is nothing about the parts that seems likely to break. Not shown in any profile photos is an 8.5” x 9” x 3” silicone freezer bag, useful for storing ice balls. The ice maker’s 7.5”L x 7W x 5.8”H size takes up a lot of space in the freezer. And it cannot be tipped or it will leak or create deformed balls. Both happened with my first batch. The bottom reservoir freezes up in a solid square block; it requires a couple hours at room temperature before that ice can be removed. So although it does a good job creating clear ice balls, I find it bulky and impractical for regular use, and expensive.
